3rd Strasbourg Summer School on Chemoinformatics

Open Conference of Marie Curie ITN Network CREAM, 10 - 16 June 2012
An open conference on the topic “Mechanistic Effect Models for Ecological Risk Assessment of Chemicals” will be organized by the Marie Curie ITN Network CREAM at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ in Leipzig. Inter alia, latest results of the projects and presentations on good modelling practice will be provided.The conference will be open to submitted contributions that refer to the research topics of CREAM.

VI. SUMMER SCHOOL IN INDIVIDUAL - AND AGENT-BASED MODELLING
The Dresden University of Technology (TUD), Germany, arranges from 7. - 15.June 2012 in Bad Schandau a special Summer School for PhD students interested in the development and application of IBMs/ABMs. The course provides an overview over the state-of-the art in individual- and agent-based modeling, model development, implementation, parameterization, and sensitivity analysis. Further topics are the handling of uncertainties in data, the design of simulation experiments and the statistical analyses of their results.

EPA Provides Access to Chemical Toxicity Database
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) facilitates to find chemical information online. EPA is releasing a new database, called ToxRefDB (Toxicity Reference Database), which gives scientists and the interested public access to hundreds of data sources, providing a new level of transparency in environmental sciences. ToxRefDB, contains the results of traditional in vivo animal toxicity studies conducted over the last thirty years, worth of nearly two billion dollars.

4th International Workshop on Per- and Polyfluorinated Alkyl Substances

Idstein workshops have been proven to be an excellent forum for professionals interested in-depth discussions on this unique compound class. Therefore Hochschule Fresenius invites all interested scientists to attend this year's workshop from 7 to 9 November about the fate and the effects of PFAS (Per- and Polyfluorinated Alkyl Substances ), such as human exposure, toxicology, ecotoxicology, risk assessment and the needs on regulation. An outline of analytical techniques will be provided with regard to monitor these compounds in their global distribution.

CADASTER Workshop on the development and application of QSAR models with respect to the REACH guidelines

The second CADASTER workshop will be organized in Helmholtz-Zentrum München, Neuherberg, Germany and will take place from October 7th to 9th 2012. It will provide a tutorial to all interested partners, including industry and SMEs, on how to develop new models for the assessment of REACH-end points (in particular for new scaffolds of compounds for which there are no reliable QSAR models) and how to use the software developed by the project participants.
